iLS Sound Therapy Intensive Program Feedback

Age 7.6 years

This child has symptoms consistent with Asperger’s Syndrome and did the 30 day intensive iLS in-clinic integrated bone conduction sound therapy.

This is what the parent noticed before and 6 month after completion of the program.

Before beginning the iLS sound therapy program my child had difficulty with:

  • Social behaviour / insight into his own actions and behaviours.
  • Co-ordination.
  • Group activities.
  • Certain noise intolerances like humming, radio in the car.
  • Anxiety.
  • Comprehending requests.

During the course of sound therapy I noticed the following changes:

  • Tiredness.
  • Less anxiety.

After the completion of 30 sessions of therapy I have noticed that:

  • Co-ordination has improved, i.e. skipping and ball skills.
  • Improved participation in group activities.
  • Can follow instructions easier.
  • Less intolerant to some noises.
  • Some improvement in social insight.
  • Less fixation / ability to accept “No”.
  • Seems less anxious.
  • Improved concentration when learning new music pieces.

iLs Sound Therapy Intensive Program behavioural results

This child did the 30 day intensive iLS in-clinic integrated bone conduction sound therapy late 2008, early 2009.

This is what the parent noticed before and 6 month after completion of the programme.

Before beginning the iLS Sound therapy programme my child had difficulty with:
o          following instructions,
o         getting herself organised,
o         expressing emotion rather than lashing out,
o         lack of social skills,
o         lack of sports / motor skills,
o         lack of accountability / ownership of mistakes / misdemeanours.

During the course of sound therapy I noticed the following changes:
o         She has become calmer, more amenable and expressive.
o         She is wanting to join in more and participates in sports.
o         She was often tired, very irritable and reclusive during sound therapy.

After the completion of 30 sessions of therapy, I have noticed that:
o         All of the above.
o         L. will now say sorry, or try to make amends for hurts or wrongdoing (she never would before).
o         She will try very hard to be helpful and seems to notice more of what goes on around her or another person’s point of view.
o         In short she seems more at ease and in possession of her faculties (we don’t have so many explosions / outbursts).

Extra Lesson Therapy Program

Christopher- Age 7 years

When we first came to the Developmental Learning Centre my child had difficulty with hyperactivity, balance, oversensitivity to sensory information, sitting still and focusing (away with the fairies!). He needed repeated instructions, became frustrated easily and was a poor sleeper. He also had a tendency to act impulsively and occasionally lack tact. Instructions, comprehension, and organizational skills were also difficult.

During the course of sound therapy I noticed the following changes:

  • Remembering sequential activities became easier and now completes tasks.
  • I do not have to repeat instructions so frequently.

After the completion of 30 sessions of therapy I have noticed

  • Chris is not hyperactive and is a much calmer child.
  • His class work has improved – his class teacher has remarked on the improvement in his hearing and attention span
  • Chris does not drift off into cloud cuckoo-land and his memory is great.
  • He has become more independent, helps with household chores and makes his own breakfast sometimes.
  • He is less distracted and always able to stay on task – his class teacher has reported that his writing is really neat, as he takes care with his work, (but still lacks confidence and finds Maths difficult.)
  • Although not wonderful his sleep pattern has definitely improved and his fine/gross motor skills are so much better.
  • Chris is a lot calmer and less frustrated if he is unable to complete a task at home.

    • Her sleep patterns improved dramatcially

In summary after the completion of 30 sessions of therapy

The Extra Lesson Programme and Listening Programme

"We very much appreciate Rosemary's professional approach to this work. She has provided us with comprehensive reports based on extensive testing throughout and kept us informed of our son's needs and progress all along.

In providing Joshua with the Extra Lesson™ exercises, Rosemary engaged him in a light hearted yet firm way and supported all of us as a family to get through the process smoothly and effectively. We noticed many improvements over time in Joshua's balance, co-ordination and ability to stay focused, all of which aided the growth in his self-confidence and helped him in school as well as at home.

When Rosemary diagnosed Joshua as having an auditory processing problem he was barely reading and finding attention in the classroom hard at times. In working through The Listening Program®, both his teacher and we have noticed major shifts. His reading age improved very quickly and in the two years since he started the programme is has caught up and gone two years ahead of his chronological age. He now finds it very much easier to be attentive in class and at home and he is enjoying reading rather than finding it a struggle."
